Listening Across the Lines of Race
Wednesday Night Live (WNL), a midweek program for all ages, will resume September 6 in Wilson Hall. The meal begins at 6:00 pm. You are invited to join the table fellowship and stay for programs.
Sept. 6, at 6:45 pm: The Belhar’s Confession will be presented by Rev. Jaco Hamman, Vanderbilt Divinity School Director of the Program in Theology and Practice and Associate Professor in the area of religion, psychology and culture. Meet in Barr Conference Room 211 at 6:45 pm.
Sept. 13, 20, 27 & Oct. 4 at 6:30 pm: These nights will be led by Rev. Warner Durnell, Middle Tennessee Executive Presbyter and Dr. Kenneth Hill, Pastor of Shorter Chapel African Methodist Episcopal church in Franklin. They will lead a community discussion of race in America, using feature films and documentaries that dramatize the experiences of African Americans in our land. This is a joint program with Shorter Chapel . We will meet twice at our facility and twice at their church facility. We will view the film then have small group discussions to learn from each other. On Sept. 20 and Oct. 4 the participants will meet at Shorter Chapel for a 6:00 pm meal and the program from 6:30 to 7:30 pm.. On the two nights we meet at Shorter Chapel we will offer childcare and children's games at Shorter Chapel. The youth will be participating in the discussion on all four weeks. WE WOULD LIKE FOR ADULTS INTERESTED IN THIS STUDY TO PLEASE SIGN UP AND LET US KNOW THE CHILDCARE NEEDS. WE HOPE YOU CAN ATTEND ALL FOUR SESSIONS.
