Mission Partner: Miss Martha's Ice Cream Crankin':

Set Up Team ~ Ice Cream Team ~ Artistic Team

From the first step onto the grass at FPC Nashville on Saturday morning until the last scoop of ice cream is dipped late Sunday afternoon, good times abound! It is a privilege to use 2NDSAT to set up the “Crankin” each year, it allows us to take on practical, yearly needed chores in support of the Martha O'Bryan Centers’ biggest fundraiser. This Center is a covenant mission of the Presbytery of Middle Tennessee, their mission is to empower children, youth, and adults in poverty to transform their lives through access to work, education, employment, and fellowship http://www.marthaobryan.org/.

Crankin’ Set Up Volunteers will meet at FPC Nashville, 4815 Franklin Pike, Nashville, TN 37220 at 8:00 a.m. to set out tables and chairs/coffee and a light breakfast will be there to share. A second 8:00 a.m. gathering will be in our FPC Franklin Kitchen and Wilson Hall where the ice cream makers will begin their magic, while in Wilson Hall, artists of all ages will help create the posters for our yearly FPC Franklin Ice Cream Table at the Crankin’. Whether you can come out for 2NDSAT or not, come with your family on Sunday to the Crankin…park and catch a ride across the street with Mike Porter on the FPC Franklin Bus! FPC volunteer drivers provide this service each year. Support our Mission Partner and their work in a beautiful, shady and full of Ice Cream place!

Mission Partner: Society of St. Andrew ~ Green Bean Drop

Society of St. Andrew is our food gleaning/sorting/stacking Mission Partner. We sort sweet potatoes for them each February and again each summer in July and August, the season for fresh vegetables here in middle Tennessee. We will go and glean if a close by opportunity is found OR we will have produce delivered here to sort and distribute. As every farmer/gardener knows, we will be dictated by weather, so please plan for the dates and we will do the work that presents itself that week. We are as flexible as farmers.
