Each Sunday our acolytes bring the baptismal waters into the sanctuary to remind us of our baptism and they they are "bearers of the light" on communion Sundays.

Acolyte is translated from an ancient Greek word that means companion, attendant, or helper. The acolyte helps everyone in church remember their own baptism and be the “bearer of the light” for the communion service. Once a child reaches 5th grade they have the opportunity to serve as worship leaders through our acolyte program.

The acolytes bring in the baptismal waters weekly, and light the candles when communion is celebrated on the second Sunday of each month. The candle acolyte also extinguishes the candles at the conclusion of worship. Therefore, he or she will sit on the lectern side in the chancel during the worship service. The water acolyte will exit to sit with their family during the service. New acolyte training takes place throughout the year. Please contact the coordinator if your student is interested.

See the Acolyte Schedule for the list of upcoming assignments. If you are unable to make your scheduled time(s), please contact another acolyte to swap. In the event a change occurs, please be sure the acolyte (or parents) contacts the church office so that the Sunday bulletin contains the correct names.
