Society of st. Andrew

“Since 1983, the Society of St. Andrew has salvaged fresh, nutritious produce from American farms – produce that otherwise would be left to rot – and delivered it to agencies across the nation that serve the poor. God has called us to do this work. In Deuteronomy 15, it says, "Since there will never cease to be some in need on the Earth, I therefore command you, ‘Open your hand to the poor and needy neighbor in your land.’ Gleaning America’s Fields ~ Feeding America’s Hungry. That is what the Society of St. Andrew does. "We do it simply, and we do it more effectively and far more efficiently than any other hunger relief organization.”

June Gleaning at Allenbrooke Farms

The June 2nd Saturday will be held June 12th from 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM (we want to take advantage of the cooler early morning temperatures, if possible).  We will be gleaning kale at beautiful Allenbrooke Farms in Spring Hill.  The address is 2023 Doctor Robertson Road, Spring Hill, TN 37174.  The address is to the farmer's house— drive a bit further and you'll see a gray event barn and a larger gray barn that has a mural on the side that reads, "Love Grows Here." We'll be parking by the large mural barn so that we are out of the way of any other activities that morning.

A few notes:
- There are no bathrooms available on the farm. Please plan accordingly!
- Masks will be required and we'll maintain distance in the fields.
- Please wear clothes and shoes you can get dirty. Wear sunscreen and/or a hat.
- Please bring a water bottle— it'll be a toasty morning!

All the gleaned food we pick will be given to those identified by the Society of Saint Andrews who have immediate needs.

  •          Each participant will need to create a profile by going to https://endhunger.volunteerlocal.com/volunteer/?id=47844.
  •          From there, they can click "View Volunteer Calendar." You'll be prompted to sign up or sign in by entering your first name and email (if they participated last year, they'll already be in our system).
  •          The FPC June 12th event is password protected so that only FPC congregants can see it. There will be a field at the top that says, "Have a password? Enter it here:" The password for this event is fpcfranklin. When that is submitted, you should be able to see the event for June 12th and sign up for it.
  •          If a family wants to sign up multiple members of the family, they will need to submit separate registrations. Parents will register as normal. Then, when signing up for a child, they'll go through the same process as they did at the beginning and parents can use the parent email for the email field, but just use their child's first name in the "first name" field when signing the child up. They will proceed as normal after that with the password and signing up for the event.
